He has held senior executive roles at two leading Greek ship management companies, where he played a key role in guiding teams, driving operational excellence, and supporting strategic growth.

Antonis Kokkalis
Technical Manager
Antonis holds a Bachelor’s in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and a Master’s in Marine Engineering from the University of Greenwich, London. With over 20 years in the maritime industry, he is a dynamic Technical Manager specializing in oil tankers and bulk carriers. He has a strong record in optimizing performance, aligning technical strategy with corporate goals, and leading cross-functional teams. Skilled in fleet reliability, data-driven maintenance, and regulatory compliance, he promotes a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Capt. Ilias Chalkias
Operations Manager
Captain Ilias Chalkias, a highly experienced Operations Manager, joined Sea Pioneer in 2024 with over 20 years at sea and 14 years ashore. Throughout his career, Captain Chalkias has excelled in various managerial positions within the maritime industry, consistently demonstrating exceptional leadership and operational skills. His extensive background covers vital areas such as Safety, Vetting, Marine, and Operations, making him an invaluable addition to our team. His dual experience at sea and onshore reinforces our commitment to safety, efficiency, and excellence.
Ersi Nannou
DPA/CSO/MLC Representative
Ersi joined Sea Pioneer in 2001, ensuring the company's adherence to national and international rules and regulations, particularly in the areas of safety, security, and maritime labor, including crew welfare. She holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Law, specializing in ISM from the University of Lille, providing a strong legal foundation for her work in maritime management. Prior to joining Sea Pioneer, she gained valuable experience as Deputy DPA at a Greek shipping company, overseeing both tankers and bulk carriers. With almost thirty years of expertise, Ersi is committed to promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and regulatory excellence throughout the fleet.
Capt. Nikolaos Volissianos
Vetting Manager
Capt. Nikolaos Volissianos is a Master Mariner with 13 years of command experience on bulk carriers, leading international voyages and ensuring safe, efficient operations. He has a further 11 years of office-based experience as Vetting, Marine, and HSQE Superintendent, specializing in compliance, inspections, risk management, and vetting processes for global shipping. He holds a Master’s degree in Shipping from Singapore/Saint Toms Polytechnic and brings strong expertise in maritime management, safety regulations, and operational excellence. He joined our company in 2024.
Ioannis Anysis
Crew Manager
Ioannis holds a BS in Maritime Studies and MAs in International Relations, LLM Shipping Law, and Shipping Business (with distinction). An Associate Fellow (AFNI) of the Nautical Institute since 2019, he has been in the shipping industry since 1991, specializing in crew management, safety, and security.
He joined Sea Pioneer in January 2025 after serving 7 years as Crew Development Manager in a major foreign shipping company. Previously, he sailed from Junior Officer to Master in the Greek Navy before transitioning to roles in DPA, operations, and business development within shipping and maritime security firms.
Akis Gkoulioumis
Legal Counsel
Akis holds an LL.B. in Law, an LL.M. in Commercial and Maritime Law, and an MBA, all from the University of Wales. He has extensive experience in the Greek shipping industry, specializing in P&I, FD&D, H&M, MoA, and a wide range of contractual disputes and legal matters. Akis is particularly experienced in handling P&I and FD&D cases, with a strong focus on speed and performance claims.
A qualified Greek lawyer admitted to the Athens Bar Association, Akis has also served as a member of the academic staff at the University of Piraeus, where he taught on the MSc. program in Shipping Management. He joined Sea Pioneer in 2020.
George Xourias
Chief Accountant
George joined Sea Pioneer in 2000 and has since become an integral part of the company's growth and success. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Economic Science from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Starting as an Accountant in the relevant department, George has progressed significantly and has held the role of Chief Accountant since 2021.
Throughout his extensive career at Sea Pioneer, George has demonstrated exceptional leadership in the Accounting Department, leveraging his deep understanding of the company's core values and operational dynamics.
George Christodoulou
ICT & Cybersecurity Manager
George holds an Associate Diploma in Applied Science in Computer Programming from the American College of Greece. With over 20 years in maritime IT, cybersecurity, and communications, he specializes in network infrastructure, and cyber risk management. As Head of IT and Cybersecurity, he ensures the seamless operation of office and fleet systems, focusing on marine telecommunications, data security, and regulatory compliance. Committed to innovation, he has earned multiple certifications in cybersecurity, network security, and IT service management, continuously advancing Sea Pioneer's digital resilience. George joined the company in July 2002.
