Sea Pioneer Shipping Corporation is proud to announce that it has been recognised with the Bronze Award in the Climate Change Leader category at the ESG Shipping Awards 2026.

The award acknowledges a structured fleet optimisation initiative undertaken between 2024 and early 2026. Over this period, Sea Pioneer divested four older vessels and introduced seven next-generation newbuildings — three Kamsarmax bulk carriers and four tankers.

Rather than pursuing short-term second-hand acquisitions, the company deliberately committed capital to newbuilding projects with extended delivery horizons, embedding climate considerations directly into its investment and fleet development strategy.

The new vessels incorporate advanced propulsion systems, optimised hull designs, and improved engine performance, delivering measurable efficiency gains:

  • Tanker newbuildings: 14–16% combined EEXI and SFOC improvement, translating to a fleet-wide technical efficiency gain of approximately 10.6%
  • Bulk carrier newbuildings: 17–19% combined improvement, translating to a fleet-wide gain of approximately 12.9%

These gains directly support compliance with IMO decarbonisation frameworks, including EEXI and CII, and reduce long-term exposure to carbon-related regulatory risk.

This recognition reaffirms Sea Pioneer's commitment to integrating decarbonisation within its strategic decision-making and to building a fleet equipped to meet the environmental demands of a rapidly transforming maritime sector.
